“A very important part of my design work is a line of jewelry called "Smart Jewelry". Smart jewelry is inspired by science and the skeptical, atheist, secular humanist and free thinker movement. I feel this gathering of rational thought is one of the most important movements of all times, one that could potentially save the human race and that it requires celebration and support from all that can lend a hand. If we are to move past the strangle hold on our collective intelligence held by religion, superstition and quackery we must work together to open a dialog that shares truth in information. My contribution as an artist (along with the help of my husband Johnny) is to create art that speaks in celebration of the scientific method and free thought and opens a dialog with the viewer, thus encouraging the spread of information. Our first project has been the ceramic jewelry which is currently a work in progress. What had started as just a few pendant designs inspired by skeptical thinking has branched out into a large body of work with over 30 different Smart Jewelry designs to date, and we aren't done yet. Our goal is celebrate and decorate those who have opened their minds to the wonderful world of reality and to help share that knowledge with the rest of humanity.
Each of our pieces are one of a kind, hand formed and hand painted ceramic art you can wear. We will continue this project as long as there are smart people willing to support our work and we plan on expanding our educational "smart project" with a series of paintings that expose charlatans and quackery.
